33th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Proclamation of the end times is a theme revealed these last two Sundays of the liturgical year: 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time and Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The prophet Daniel foretells a coming of Michael the Archangel, the heavenly patron of the chosen nation. He will come during a terrible time of unsurpassed distress and the people of God would count on his saving help while the other left for eternal rejection. Then “many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace”. Jesus Christ seems to confirm these words about the ending of time and the fate of these people. We hear in the Gospel today, that after a big tribulation, "when the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light”, then the nations will “see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory”. And then, "the angels will gather his elect from the four winds”. Natural phenomenon, telling about the logical change of the seasons and showing the rules of growing the flowers and graces are to be a good strong confirmation of the coming of those times of the end of the world. Then all the nations will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds from heaven to do a judgment over them. It is possible, because Jesus Christ has done his work of salvation started to seat at the right hand of God. Since then, He rules as Eternal Arch priest being accessible as a Savior to all nations. Happy are those who use the occasion to draw from his saving cross.
