The readings today touch the theme of a vocation. It is put in the context of Jesus vocation which Luke evangelist expressed in short words: “When the days for Jesus’ being taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem,” because exactly Jerusalem in that time was a spiritual center of the world. He went over there to announce his work of salvation on the cross. Taking into consideration this context every disciples of Jesus has to be prepared at the moment of his vocation and offering himself for the Kingdom of Heaven sake. It may us think a different answers of Jesus, sometimes even not understandable to us, when someone who approaches Jesus wanted to follow him is not accepted by him; and the others whom Jesus calls are rejected because they are not prepare. The true is that only Jesus knows who is really called to his ministry to spread the Kingdom of God. On our site as disciples of Jesus we have to be always preparing no matter what conditions and times, to proclaim the Gospel. And again Jesus himself gives us an example. Luke expresses it in these words: “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nets, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” The good example of a correct discernment of the vocation is a mission of Elisha in the Old Testament. Elisha when only discovered his vocation he very quick said good bye to his family, thanked God with the offering and went to learn into the school of Elias to be prepared later on for his mission to serve to God. Today the role of the school which prepares the disciples of Jesus to his mission play a seminary, and institution founded by Council of Trident in the XVI century. The candidates to the service of God – priests- are preparing themselves to be ready after years of a priestly formation to go whenever Jesus wanted to send them. The will of Jesus reveals them a bishop as Elias revealed the will of God to Elisha. We have today a good opportunity to thanks God for a gifts of priestly vocations asking for humbly ones it means according to the will of God.
